What is kombucha ?

Kombucha is a sparkling beverage made from fermented tea, and flavored with fruits and herbs.


But it's much more than that!

Ancestral

Originating in ancient China, Kombucha is known as "the elixir of longevity". The culture has been shared and spread all over the world.

Healthy

Created by a natural fermentation of tea with a culture of bacteria and yeast, each bottle contains millions of microorganisms, which work together to produce a probiotic, non-alcoholic beverage. Kombucha is a great low-sugar alternative to soda.

Delicious

Our kombucha is lightly tart and fruity, with fine bubbles. The taste can be somewhat similar to beer or cider, due to the fermentation. We work to create unique flavors with different fruits and herbs to appeal to everyone. Kombucha is also a great cocktail mixer!

Artisanal

Brewed in small batches in our micro brewery, our kombucha is created with the best ingredients from local farmers to bring you a high-quality product, in line with the seasons.

Hibiscus Rose    

For those who like Agua de Jamaica! Tart and floral, this subtile flavor is made with hibiscus flowers, roses from Verdon, and a little bit of rose hips.

Not the Mojito you get at the bar! Our Virgin Mojito is super fresh, made with sweet mint, lime, and a bit of lemon balm!

Lavender Lemonade

Our personal favorite ! A unique flavor, marrying lemon and lavender, with a touch of camomile, and our little secret for the special color : butterfly pea flowers!

Ginger Lemongrass

Our classic flavor. With a hit of ginger and a hint of fresh, local lemongrass, this flavor will definitely give you a boost!

The process

It all begins with the choice of ingredients. Our kombucha starts with green and black teas, and cane sugar, all of which are organic and fair trade. .

Brewing & Fermentation

We make an infusion of sweetened tea, and once it cools, we add our kombucha "mother" which ferments the sugar, creating the special flavor, the bubbles, and the health benefits.

Our kombucha is vegan, gluten free, low in sugar and caffeine, and contains just a trace of alcohol. 

Flavoring

We love to eat with the seasons, and so does our kombucha! Our flavors are seasonal, so we work with small local farmers for flavoring our kombucha. We use whole fruits, juices, herbs, and sometimes floral waters. We never use aromas, preservatives, or additives! 

Conditioning

We fill every bottle by hand! Everything at BB Kombucha is done with care by the two of us; the brewing process, the bottling, and the delivery!

Our Story

BB Kombucha started with a love story that began in Santa Barbara, California. We started making kombucha at home, just for fun, but our friends couldn't get enough and suggested we turn it into a business. Today, we have a microbrewery in Vailhauquès, just north of Montpellier, where we brew artisanal, organic kombucha. We have risen to the challenge to make kombucha well-known in France, and what a challenge it is!
